The Berlin Wall came down in November 1989, ushering in a new political era for the world. Born in June 1990, the artist has missed the chance in his lifetime to interact with the Berlin Wall when it still divided the city.

     As a visiting artist in residence in the German capital, the artist bases “I Came of Age Without the Berlin Wall” on his own experience. He projects his own body on to surviving sections of the Wall. A member of the first generation to grow up after the end of the Cold War, he seizes the intertextuality between his own body and the Berlin Wall as a prism to reflect on his political life experiences. This work is a sensory response to the weight of history.
